Mimi and her abusive owner Maricela Sanchez.

This one is hard to believe.

27-year-old Maricela Sanchez was arrested last week by Marble Falls police and charged with animal cruelty.

What did she do? According to animal control, she put a leash on her 5 pound terrier and dragged it with her truck.

Sanchez told police she wanted to “walk” the dog. She jumped behind the wheel of her Ford Expedition, held the leash out of the window and dragged the dog down the street at 10 mph.

Her terrier, Mimi, suffered serious injury because she simply couldn’t keep up with Sanchez’s truck.

While Sanchez sat comfortably in the driver’s seat of her Ford Expedition, Mimi’s was being dragged on the hot asphalt. The pads and nails on the poor dog’s feet were worn completely off, exposing muscle and bone.

It was Sanchez’s neighbors who witnessed the abuse and called police. If convicted, Sanchez faces a maximum of two years in prison.

Mimi is now in foster care and is recovering from her injuries.
