Occupy Austin protester Jarod Smith occupied a jail cell after he was caught masturbating in front of a 16-year old girl.

AUSTIN, TEXAS – A 20-year old Occupy Austin protester arrested Sunday morning at City Hall is charged with exposing his private parts and masturbating in front of a 16-year old girl.

Jarod Smith was arrested and charged with indecency with a child, which is a third degree felony.

It happened around 6 a.m. Sunday morning. The 16-year old girl told police that she was sitting on the steps of the amphitheater at City Hall Plaza where the Occupy Austin protesters have set up camp.

She said she saw Smith undress right in front of City Hall and get in a sleeping bag. Apparently, undressing in the open in front of City Hall is an accepted practice. She looked away, but a short time later she turned to see the man was fully exposed, looking her in the eyes and masturbating.

The 16-year old then went and made contact with a security guard who contacted police.

Smith was arrested and taken to the Travis County Jail.

Over 40 Occupy Austin protesters have been arrested since the group descended on Austin’s City Hall Plaza on October 6.

    Actually, as an Austinite, I can tell you that he is pretty typical of what you find downtown these days -6th St, along the river, near the UT campus, over onto the other side of I-35, etc.. Note also no question asked as to what a 16 year old female was doing down by city Hall at 6am in the morning…and if you think she had only arrived, you need to be introduced to the bevvy of Austin’s weirdos. This is one very screwed up city. You might as well be in lower Manhattan – same type whack-jobs.

    we should be glad about this animal being taken off the streets. Ialso hope this young woman’s parents were available to pick her up and take her home. If you think it through, as disgusting as this incident is, it is perfectly acceptable in the minds of some of these protestors. In their world, who is anyone to pass judgement on this animal? Why is it wrong for him to behave like this….in their world? These protestors have been allowed to break the law, which has cost tens of millions of tax dollars around the country. This administration, with help from the usual suspects (most of the media) have encouraged and deemed this excercise important and warranted. If this had been a tea party event, the media would have shown a loop of the guy poopin’ on a police vehicle and the guy who was yelling and screaming about how the jews own the world. But alas the media only reported on how these protestors and the tea party have sooo much in common. THE MEDIA IN THIS COUNTRY IS A JOKE, A JOKE W/ SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES.

    I was there and it did happen but not at 6 a.m. The 16 year old girl has been at City Hall 24/7 for weeks, She and the cops lied about the time because the girl was 16. She had no right camping out at city hall. her mom knew she was there and did nothing. I think the mom should face charges as well.
